Meta Introduces AI Glasses Without Cameras to Ease Privacy Concerns

Date:

Meta has introduced a new line of AI-powered wearables aimed at addressing privacy concerns, with the launch of camera-free smart glasses. These audio-only glasses, available from October 13 at a starting price of $349, are designed to mitigate privacy issues associated with wearable devices by eliminating the capability to capture photos and videos. This move follows Meta’s commitment to incorporating privacy features, such as visible recording indicators, in its camera-equipped models.

In addition to the camera-free glasses, Meta unveiled new smart glasses featuring display capabilities, priced from $799. These models are set to reach additional international markets, expanding the company’s footprint in the wearable technology sector.

Further diversifying its portfolio, Meta announced lighter mixed-reality glasses that operate with an external battery and memory pack. These glasses are anticipated to hit the market in spring 2027 at a starting price of $1,299, representing another step in Meta’s ongoing development in mixed-reality technology.

Meta also showcased Muse, an AI-powered personal assistant designed to assist users with tasks such as booking appointments, making calls, and connecting with various services. This innovation is part of Meta’s broader strategy to integrate AI into consumer products, with both the AI glasses and Muse positioned as key components of this initiative.
