Eurostar Expands Market with New London–Antwerp Direct Service This December

Date:

Starting December 14, Eurostar will introduce a new direct train service, connecting London and Antwerp, set to enhance travel convenience and speed between these two cities. The new route will provide four daily services from London St. Pancras directly to Antwerp, removing the current necessity for passengers to switch trains in Brussels. This development promises to make the journey more seamless for travelers.

The direct connection is expected to take about 2 hours and 41 minutes, offering a quicker alternative to the present route that involves a change at Brussels-Midi station. This reduction in travel time is anticipated to attract more passengers who value efficiency and ease of travel.

However, there is a notable limitation on the return leg of the journey. Direct services from Antwerp back to London are not on offer initially. This is due to Antwerp Central Station lacking the necessary UK border and customs facilities. Therefore, travelers heading back to London will still need to make a stopover in Brussels to complete border formalities.

The introduction of this direct service is poised to boost connectivity between the UK and Belgium significantly. Antwerp, renowned for its vibrant fashion industry, thriving diamond trade, historic sites, and culinary delights, will become more accessible to British travelers. This new route is expected to enhance tourism and business travel between the two regions, fostering closer ties and economic benefits.
