On the sidelines of the Milipol Qatar 2026 exhibition, Qatar and Belgium have formalized a significant step towards enhancing their security collaboration. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Belgium’s Minister of Security and Interior, Bernard Quintin. This agreement underscores both nations’ commitment to improving police cooperation, security coordination, and the exchange of professional expertise.
The MoU aims to foster closer ties between Qatar’s Ministry of Interior and Belgium’s Federal Police. By focusing on the sharing of professional knowledge and strengthening coordination in security and policing, the agreement sets the stage for a more robust partnership in law enforcement and internal security. During their meeting, officials from both countries reviewed their existing bilateral relations and explored opportunities for expanded collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The signing of this agreement reflects a mutual recognition of the importance of international cooperation in addressing security challenges. By pooling resources and expertise, Qatar and Belgium aim to enhance their capabilities in maintaining law and order, thereby contributing to wider regional and global security efforts.
This development is part of a broader strategy by both countries to develop their security partnerships. It highlights a shared commitment to advancing their policing frameworks and ensuring effective responses to emerging security issues.
