‘Now is the Time to be Wednesday’: Fans Mobilise to Save Club After -6 Point Hit

Date:

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust has issued a powerful rallying cry—”Now is the time to be Wednesday”—urging fans to unite and save the club. The call comes after the club entered administration, resulting in a 12-point deduction and a -6 point total.
The administration marks the end of Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership, a goal fans had long protested for. The trust called his exit “overjoyed” news, but the “bittersweet” day leaves the club 15 points from safety and facing relegation.
The “phase of resistance” against Chansiri is now over, and the “phase of renewal” must begin. The trust is urging fans who boycotted the midweek game to return in their thousands. “Every ticket bought, every shirt worn… helps the club rebuild,” the statement read.
The club is now run by administrator Begbies Traynor, who is seeking a new owner for the club and stadium. The club’s finances are in ruins, with $pounds{}$1 million owed to HMRC and a track record of unpaid wages.
Manager Henrik Pedersen praised the “fantastic club” and its “old heart.” He insisted that despite the -6 point starting position, he has “a big belief we can survive” and will “keep fighting.”
