The “Sweet 7”: A Doctor’s List of Fruits for Liver Vitality

Date:

A gastroenterologist has shared a “Sweet 7” list of foods, mostly fruits, that can naturally boost your liver’s vitality. These foods are packed with compounds that support metabolism, blood flow, and detoxification.
The list includes sweet pairings like strawberries with dark chocolate (70% cocoa). This treat is rich in flavanols and anthocyanins, which support blood vessel function. Another combo is watermelon with lime, which boosts nitric oxide for healthy blood flow.
Apples with cinnamon are another flavorful, sweet pairing. Apples provide pectin fiber, while cinnamon has compounds studied for supporting insulin sensitivity, a key part of metabolic health.
The list also features powerful berries. Cranberries are praised for their prebiotic polyphenols that support the gut-liver axis. Raspberries are highlighted for their fiber and anthocyanins, which help regulate blood sugar and fat processing.
Pomegranates, with their potent anti-inflammatory polyphenols, also make the list. The only non-fruit is beetroot, a root vegetable that is crucial for its betaine content, which helps the liver process and move fat.
