Trump-Xi Talks Set for Thursday in South Korea

Date:

High-stakes talks between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set for Thursday in South Korea.
The meeting will take place on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. Speaking from Tokyo, President Trump was confident, calling it a “big meeting.”
“I think it’s going to work out very well, actually,” Trump said, despite a new escalation in the US-China trade war.
Tensions have risen sharply after China imposed rare earth export controls, and the US responded with a 100% tariff threat, effective November 1.
Trump, however, insisted the meeting would be “fantastic” and “great for everybody.”
