Russia Strikes Ukraine: Iran-Made Drones Used as International Community Seeks Resolution

Mayor Igor Terekhov confirmed that Kharkiv faced attacks from Iran-made Shahed drones, which damaged multiple residential complexes. The use of Iranian-manufactured weapons highlighted the international dimensions of the conflict, with Russia relying on foreign military technology. The northeastern city has endured persistent bombardment throughout the war.
Despite the violence involving Iranian weapons, the international community sought resolution through talks in Abu Dhabi. American, Russian, and Ukrainian representatives engaged in two-day discussions described by the UAE foreign ministry as “ongoing efforts to promote dialogue and identify political solutions to the crisis.” The international diplomatic engagement represented significant effort toward peace.
President Zelensky announced that peace proposals were approaching completion following his meeting with President Trump. He proposed creating a free trade zone in eastern Ukraine under Kyiv’s control. President Putin met with Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, as the international community remained actively engaged.
